A decent start but needs a new update for spring!
If you are new to square foot gardening and looking for a simple planning tool this is not a bad little app. If you only use your desktop computer to track your garden this is a program you can own for $5 and not be stuck with the $20-a-year subscription, internet-only garden planner. As a simple-to-use square-foot garden planner/tracker this app does the job.
If you have more experience in the garden this app will leave you wanting updates just because it has a great, simple, straightforward design that is quick and easy to use AND you can own it for $5.
Im hoping it catches up and evenually lets me sync with the mobile version. The mobile version is a bit different but it tracks when I need to do tasks like watering and harvesting quite well. This was one of the first apps of its kind I purchased better than a year ago and I would love to see them bring it to the next level.
Until then, "Fully customizable" is a bit of a stretch of reality. You can input other vegetables, etc. but there is not a space for variety names. You can indicate whether you are growing a vegetable, flower, herb or fruit but not a grain. You cant change any of the headings such as recommeded varieties, companion plants, incompatible with, etc. I dont need to have varieties suggested. I already know what Im planting. I have deleted the suggested varieties and put in the one Im using and have made a mental note that under the suggested variety header I will find the variety Im planting this year…for every plant Im growing. There is one generic note space but there are so many things that have to fit in it starting with my source of seed, etc. I would love to see other customizable note headings. If these updates appear I will update my rating to 5 stars in a heartbeat!
